The New Zealand Patchwork and Quilting Charitable Trust is the convener of the Taupo Symposium 2013 Fabric Art Festival. We will be bringing you some of the most talented tutors from around the globe to share their remarkable talent with you. We have tutors signed up from America, UK, Africa, and Australia and of course our talented Kiwi tutors.

Traditional patchwork with a twist, new techniques, the latest tools of the trade and a whole lot more will be offered to you over 5 days. There will be:

  • 250 workshops
  • 30+ merchants stalls
  • Quilt Exhibitions and Challenges
  • Lectures
  • Catching up with old friends and making more new ones
  • And we mustn’t forget the scrummy food and evening entertainment

Your registration of interest will entitle you to newsletters, the class registration book, and priority for class allocation. The earlier you register the more likely you are to get into the class you want. We have some amazing tutors coming so demand for classes will be high.

New Zealand Patchwork and Quilting Charitable Trust

The Trust has been established to use the profit from symposium and any other donations (yes donations will be tax deductible as the Trust is registered as charitable with the IRD) to promote the advancement of Patchwork, Quilting and Fabric Art in New Zealand. Some of the things it will do are:

  • Bring overseas Tutors to NZ for all New Zealand patchwork & quilting groups to have access to.
  • Offering sponsorship to send our “up and coming” quilters and fabric artists overseas to learn more and bring their skills back to New Zealand to pass onto all of us.
  • Scholarships to enable young fabric artists to study and develop their skills

This is a National Charitable Trust so the benefits will be available to the whole of New Zealand.
